Gompers Elementry School Visit

My son Johnny asked me to visit his school with A1 for a show and tell. So of course we went! Nothing like driving R2 into a school full of kids stuck indoors due to rain.

Fanboys Premier Screening

A1 was invited to the star filled premier of the movie Fanboys. IF you remember from my earlier post, A1 is in the movie :) So I am glad to see it finally hit the big screen. And as usual the droid was a favorite at the event. Victor Franco and his R2-D2 joined us as well as the Godfather of R2's, Mike Senna.

This was a great event! A1 and I had a blast hanging out with the 501st and Rebel Legion folks. Now I gotta go see the movie on Friday :)

Frank and Sons Star Wars Day

A1 reported for duty for the Frank and Sons Collectibles Star Wars day. This is always a great event. The 50st and the droids we mobbed by adoring fans! R2 was able to meet and patrol the area with a new Naboo Era droid, R2-A6. Dan Logan (Young Boba Fett), Amy Allen (Aayla Secura), Bonnie Piesse (Young Aunt Baru) and Matt Wood (Voice of General Grievous) were all at the show signing autographs.

I would like to thank R2-A6 driver Gene Arena, of the R2 Builders club and a So Cal Garrison member for helping me out today. Im my rush to get out of the house, I forgot a set of batteries for A1. Gene was nice enough to let me borrow a set of his A6 batteries. Thanks again buddy!!!!

Hobby and Craft Convention - Part 2

A1 invaded the Anaheim Convention Center today to support the Lucasfilm Licensee Creative Imaginations. They opened a line of Star Wars scrapbooking gear. Great event, lots of folks who were complete geeks. Not our normal crowd, one kid at the whole show (And he was one of ours!). Paris Hilton was there, but A1 had no desire to go meet her :P

Creative Imagination Party

A1 i s BACK! After a brief period on non activity A1 was back in the saddle today! R2 was invited to join the 501st Stormtrooper Legion for a LucasFilm Licensee Creative Imaginations promotion. A1 patrolled the floor with the Trooper and everyone loved them. A1 will be heading out for day 2 at the Convention Center tomorrow.

On a side note, A1 had a electronics issue that almost kept him out of this event! But my good friend and fellow droid builder, Victor Franco, stepped up to the plate and helped me out big time. Do to him being the great guy that he is, A1 will make all this weekends events. So just wanted to give him a shout and say "Thanks buddy"!!!!

A1 has a busy day!

A1 had a busy day today. Our first event was the famous (or should I say infamous) R2LA5. Mike Senna opens his home to the local R2 builders and we make a huge party out of it. This year the guys did a live web feed so the out of area builders could see what we do.

Every year the R2LA guys pick a builder of the year. This years winner was Jerry C. Jerry came in all the way from Texas to get his award!

A1 had to leave R2LA to attend an event with the 501st. The 501st was invited to go to the 0ne years anniversary fund raiser for the US Too Gymnastics Center in Lake Forrest, Ca. The center helps Special children by teaching them Gymnastics.

After the event, we went back to R2LA for a couple more hours. All you builders, make sure you get the R2LA5 DVD when it comes out. You wont regret it!

R2 Visits Legoland

A1 was joined by the 501st in Carlsbad, Ca at Legoland. This was A1's first visit to the theme park, and it was great! The crowds were large and the Legoland Staff were great. Big thank you to Kim (Our Legoland Handler)

I would also like to thank my youngest Daughter (Alyssa) for helping dad. I had a great time with ya kid!

Barnes and Noble Clone Wars Event

R2 was invited to join the 501st and Rebel Legion at a local Barnes and Noble for a Clone Wars Event. Got to hang out with all the shoppers.

Clone Wars Movie Event

The 501st was asked to join the Regal Entertainment Group to help promote the release of the Clone Wars movie. So I took A1 the the theaters in Newport Beach, Ca and we had a great time.
We invaded the local MacDonalds for new Clone Wars toys....

Robot Chicken 501st Presentation

Back at Wizardworld LA, we noticed that the Robot Chicken guys were not part of the 501st yet. So I got in touch with them and threw the idea out about making them Friends of the Legion. They loved the idea. So today the 20 of the finest 501st members met up at the Robot Chicken shop and inducted them into the 501st!

Everyone at this event, 501st and Robot Chicken crew, had a great time. I was lucky enough to be able to do a Podcast interview with the guys for the 501st Podcast, so watch for that!

Mother's Day Show off

R2 made a vist at my Brother in laws for Mothers Day. So I finally got to show off a completed R2 to my famliy.
